basking...

i am so pleased when it is sunny all weekend! josh and i finally got to use our much anticipated patio furniture to eat outside. i made chicken salad pitas (a summer fave) and iced tea and we basked in the knowledge that summer would soon be upon us!

hope you all had a beautiful first day of spring! i know i did. it truly felt like spring, and i got to go out without a jacket...

motivation.

so i realized that i'm going to need a little motivation if i'm ever going to stop being bitter when i'm upstairs studying and i hear josh downstairs laughing at everybody loves raymond. so i decided to spice up my little study nook.

 i marched down to target and bought myself a pillow with bright, happy colors (on sale for $5!) and decided to make some of my favorite martha-inspired pom poms to hang (they cost pennies to make, all it takes is tissue paper). they are reminiscent of my May 2008 wedding where my wonderful mother and i made over 50 of them to decorate the reception venue. and when i see them i automatically think of the happiest day of my life.

i'm only in class two of ten on my way towards my master's degree so i'm hoping that i've tricked myself into wanting to spend more time up there. Luckily, josh will soon be studying too. so we can be happily miserable together! 

Doesn't this just look like the perfect place to curl up with a textbook? I will just have to keep telling myself that... 

crisis averted

i have been keeping my eyes open for a new address book as i made the mistake of using pen in my last one and practically half of the addresses are outdated. so i finally found one the other day that i love at one of my local discount stores for $2.99! and its pepperpot. i love their stationary line at target. but one thing i hate about this particular store is that their price stickers are too sticky. so i had to improvise when as i took off the sticker it ripped of the pattern. i'm not gonna lie...I almost like it better. :)

summer saturday mornings

i have ants in my pants thinking about summer saturday mornings. waking up to sunshine. iced coffee. yard sales. farmer's market. all this and it's not even noon. summer come quickly.

these two images made me laugh out loud when i saw them. the first is from beantown handmade. this little dog's face is simply priceless. and when josh and i finally agree to disagree on what type of dog we should get, i shall get one. 

the second image is from silhouette masterpiece theater found via made sweet. i can only applaud creativity like this.

stuff i love

i am so attracted to all things floral. and i know ruffles have been making a statement for awhile but i still love them. there is something so feminine and pretty about ruffles. i can't wait to get back in my summer attire. this virginia weather has been throwing me off....10inches of snow one weekend, 80 degrees the next! make up your mind...and just stay spring!
